Dean’s chat welcomes, Dr. Graham Hamilton; Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Podiatric Medicine and Faculty for University of Texas, San Antonio Foot and Ankle Residency Program. Dr. Hamilton shares with us his insights and experiences in the podiatric medicine and surgery community. As a leader in the industry, Dr. Hamilton has fostered relationships across multiple specialties and one of the founding members that built the collaboration between the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the AO North American.

Dr. Hamilton got his Bachelors of Health Science from California State University Northridge, and went on to complete his doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California. He went on to complete his surgical residency program with Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. Listen as he recounts the early days after residency, showing up with determination and demonstrating excellence in ankle fracture care to help broaden the scope of practice for ankle privileges.
Dr. Hamilton has held many leadership positions and worked for many years with Kaiser Permanente in Northern California and was one of the faculty attendings when Dr. Richey was a resident. Later, they worked together in the same facility, managing patients, trading call and clinic responsibilities as well as publishing, various articles, commentaries, and textbook chapters together.
